On June 27, led by the China Investment Promotion Agency of the Ministry of Commerce, a delegation of representatives from hidden champion enterprises and institutions in the German pharmaceutical and healthcare sector, including the German Federal Pharmaceutical Association, EuNatur Pharma GmbH, and the German National Research Center for Health and Environment, visited Shunyi for inspection and exchange. Song Peng, Deputy District Chief (concurrently) and Deputy Director of the Capital Airport临空Economic Zone Management Committee, participated in the event.
The delegation visited the Sino-German Building to learn about the park’s planning.
The delegation arrived at the Sino-German Building, where they were briefed on the development of the Beijing Sino-German Economic and Technological Cooperation Pilot Demonstration Zone. They gained detailed insights into Shunyi District’s history of cooperation with Germany, the park’s planning and industrial layout, business environment, Sino-German (European) cooperation projects, and international collaboration achievements. Subsequently, the delegation visited the Capital Airport临空Economic Zone, where they toured Keyuan Xinhai (Beijing) Medical Products Trading Co., Ltd. to learn about the advantages of the comprehensive bonded zone and the development of export-oriented pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.
The delegation highly acknowledged Shunyi District’s achievements in the development of the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry and its international supporting services. They stated that the Sino-German (European) Hidden Champions Forum and this event have drawn more European companies to focus on Beijing and recognize Shunyi, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation and development of European enterprises in Beijing and Shunyi.

In May this year, the 2024 Sino-German (European) Hidden Champions Forum was successfully held in Shunyi, with nearly 100 German and European hidden champion enterprises attending. Just a month later, a delegation of German and European hidden champion enterprises gathered again in Shunyi to focus on hot topics in Sino-German (European) pharmaceutical and healthcare technology, engage in dialogue, and explore cooperation opportunities. This event will help German and European small and medium-sized enterprises gain a better understanding of the Chinese market and further strengthen their confidence in conducting international cooperation activities in China, such as technological research and development and product sales.
In recent years, Shunyi District has focused on production, research and development, and trade circulation in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sector, forming a diversified landscape coordinated development of chemical pharmaceuticals, traditional Chinese medicine, biological pharmaceuticals, medical devices, pharmaceutical services and trade, and smart healthcare. The initial formation of industrial clusters has emerged. Currently, the output value of large-scale pharmaceutical and healthcare manufacturing enterprises exceeds 10 billion yuan. Among them, there is 1 enterprise awarded as an academician workstation, 14 postdoctoral research工作站, 8 national-level "Specialized, Refined, Unique, and New" little giant enterprises, 12 Beijing municipal-level "Specialized, Refined, Unique, and New" little giant enterprises, 35 Beijing municipal-level "Specialized, Refined, Unique, and New" small and medium-sized enterprises, 9 enterprise technology centers, and 1 green factory.
In the future, Shunyi District will leverage its manufacturing foundation and existing industrial development advantages to focus on cultivating leading enterprises with supportive and引领roles and accelerate the gathering of innovative and high-growth potential enterprises. At the same time, relying on international exchange activities such as the Sino-German (European) Hidden Champions Forum, the district will actively build a dialogue platform to promote exchange, integration, and mutual development of the Sino-German (European) pharmaceutical and healthcare industry. Together, we will advance practical economic and technological cooperation between China and Germany (Europe) to a new level and contribute to the high-quality development of the regional economy.
