Beijing Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Ameco") is the first German funded enterprise to settle in Shunyi District. Recently, it completed the first Airbus A330 aircraft passenger to cargo conversion project and delivered it to China International Cargo Airlines Co., Ltd. The successful completion of the first wide body aircraft passenger to cargo conversion project will provide guarantees for the increase of air cargo volume at Capital Airport and help further recover the air cargo market.

Recently, the delivery ceremony of the first Airbus A330 passenger to cargo aircraft was held at Ameco Chengdu branch. This modification is Ameco's first wide body aircraft to cargo conversion project, and the first domestically delivered A330 passenger to cargo aircraft certified by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), filling the gap in this field. Ameco CEO Shen Min said, "Through this customer to goods conversion project, we have benefited greatly in terms of products, services, technology, and management. These concepts, capabilities, and experiences will also provide crucial assistance for Ameco to further improve its product system and enhance its service level."

Since Ameco established the Boeing B757 passenger to cargo conversion capability in 2013, it has completed a total of 30 aircraft modification work and accumulated rich experience in major aircraft structural modifications. In order to further enhance its engineering and technical capabilities and explore domestic and international markets, Ameco decided to build a wide body aircraft passenger to cargo conversion capacity in 2021. Driven by capacity building and external needs, Ameco embarked on strategic decoding, market evaluation, feasibility and economic evaluation work, and subsequently conducted business negotiations with EFW company, initiating various preparatory work. On February 20, 2022, the Ameco Airbus A330 passenger to cargo conversion project capacity launch meeting was held at the Chengdu branch, and 9 special working groups were established, including capacity building, engineering management, and quality management. After more than a year of preparation, on April 10, 2023, with the joint efforts of various working groups, Ameco Chengdu Branch was approved by the Southwest Regional Administration of Civil Aviation for A330 passenger to cargo conversion and modification.

The modification work began on April 11, 2023, and the project team continuously overcame difficulties, striving to complete a comprehensive "management upgrade" and self transcendence. The project has a large scale, with nearly 10000 modification work cards and drawings, nearly 700 tools and fixtures, nearly 6100 modification packages, and over 2300 self provided equipment, requiring a large amount of supporting factory facilities and IT system support. There are many technical difficulties and high risks in retrofitting, and the project involves a large number of personnel and a large workload.

From the delivery of the first Boeing B757-200 passenger to cargo aircraft in 2014 to the delivery of the first Airbus A330 passenger to cargo aircraft in 2023, Ameco has continuously honed its high-quality professional maintenance team while completing product iterations and management upgrades.
