On March 28th, the WeChat official account of the National Development and Reform Commission reported that on the afternoon of March 26th, Zheng Zhajie, Director of the National Development and Reform Commission, met with German Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Climate Protection Habeck via video. The two sides jointly announced the official launch of the China Germany intergovernmental dialogue and cooperation mechanism on climate change and green transformation.
Zheng Zhajie stated that in June last year, both sides signed a memorandum of understanding on establishing a dialogue and cooperation mechanism on climate change and green transformation between China and Germany, sending a clear signal to the world that China and Germany are willing to work together to lead the global economy in green and low-carbon development.
Habeck stated that the German side attaches great importance to green and low-carbon transformation, and is willing to use the convening of the first high-level dialogue with China as an opportunity to promote practical cooperation in areas such as energy efficiency, circular economy, and industrial green and low-carbon transformation. He actively expands local cooperation between German federal states and Chinese provinces, and looks forward to co hosting the first dialogue with Director Zheng Zhajie.
